The W. Harry and Harriet Hill Society for Planned Gifts

When you include Young Harris College in your estate plan, you become a member of the W. Harry and Harriet Hill Society for Planned Gifts. Hill Society members use a variety of giving vehicles to accomplish their estate planning goals and also provide for the long-term needs of YHC and its students including: charitable bequests, listing the College as a life insurance policy or retirement account beneficiary, charitable remainder trusts and more.

To become a member of the Hill Society, please notify the College about a future estate gift of any size. If you have a particular vision for what you'd like your gift to accomplish, please contact the Office of College Advancement for information about giving opportunities such as named, endowed funds. We can also share simple steps for documenting your intentions so that the College has clear guidance about how to use your future gift.

If you have already included the College in your estate plan, please let us know so that we can thank you now and invite you to Hill Society events throughout the year. If you prefer to remain anonymous, we can still invite you to Hill Society events, but not list you publicly as a Hill Society member.

If you would like to have a confidential conversation about planned giving options or notify the College about an existing planned gift, please contact Robin Harp, senior director of leadership and legacy giving at cell: 404-518-4341 or [email protected].

Benefits

Hill Society members are the College's most loyal and generous donors. Some of the benefits of being a Hill Society member include:

  • Being recognized in College publications (unless the donor prefers to remain anonymous)
  • Receiving a Hill Society lapel pin
  • Being invited to College engagement and appreciation events throughout the year such as the virtual presidential college update or the fall appreciation luncheon
  • Inspiring others to include YHC in their own estate plans
  • Knowing that you'll provide life-changing opportunities for future Mountain Lions

Harriet Hargrove Hill and William Harry Hill

Young Harris College established the Hill Society in 2009 to honor William Harry Hill and his wife, Harriet Hargrove Hill. Dr. Hill served as a faithful trustee of the College for many years and passed away in 2016 at the age of 98. He was also a Tennessee Walking Horse enthusiast which is why the Hill Society logo includes the image of a horse. Harriet passed away in July of 2023. She lived out her final years at their beloved 47-acre family farm in Powder Springs, Georgia and died at the age of 99.

Few couples have impacted the physical and financial landscape of Young Harris College as much as Harry and Harriet Hill. They established a charitable remainder trust to accomplish their financial goals and support the work of YHC.

Like Harry and Harriet Hill, our planned giving donors possess a vision for YHC's greatness and have chosen to invest in its future.
